Start: Go
through the gate in the farmyard at the back of the house.
Follow the track up.

along the track
The
Llantysilio Mountain Range is on your left.
The
Mountain with the masts is Cyrn y Brain - 1,847ft. Next: Moel
y Faen - 1,797 ft (above the quarry) Next: Moel y Gamelin
1,893ft (highest) Next: Moel y Gaer 1,653(with a hill
fort), & Moel Morfydd at - 1,455ft (pronounced peak).
Go
over a style by the gate and continue along the track through a
wooded ravine.

The
track will bring you to another gate and into an open field.
The
view to your left is of the Vale of Iāl (iāl: means Fertile
plain in English).
Turn
right up the field.

| Head
towards the white post on the brow of the hill.
There
is a small quarry in this field by the white post. The stone was
used to build the original road to the house.
Please
take care by the quarry.
There
is a roman road somewhere in this vicinity. It was the main route
from Chester to Bala.

Continue
past the white post to the brow of the hill above.
The 'Vale of Clwyd' will come into view on your
left as you climb up the hill.
(Clwyd meaning 'Gate' is the name of the river
that runs through the vale)

| Head
for another white post by a gate. Climb over the style by the gate
and turn left to follow the fence.

Continue
along the field with the fence on your left. Head for a gate into
the next field. Your nearly there.

Go
thorough the gate and turn right to the brow of the hill. You are
within 20metres of the highest point.
(There
is no marker to signify the highest point you just cannot climb
any higher)
The 'Vale of Clwyd' is beneath you with the
Irish Sea in the distance. On a clear day you can see the seaside
town of Rhyl and the market towns of Denbigh and Ruthin...see
picture below
The Clwydian Range mark the Eastern boundary
to the Vale of Clwyd.
Retrace your steps back down to the
House
